Country music singer Scotty McCreery stopped his concert at the Colorado State Fair over the weekend when he saw a man reportedly assault a woman in the crowd.
Video circulating on social media shows the North Carolina-born star halt the show for more than two minutes during the intro to his award-winning song, "It Matters To Her", while authorities intervene with help from the crowd.
“Right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir,” McCreery, 30, says, and the crowd loudly gasps. “Absolutely not, you just hit the lady. Police? Security? Is she OK? Get the heck out of here.”
“On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?” the singer said on stage after pointing the alleged assailant out. “Y'all let the cop know who hit the lady. That’s absolutely unacceptable.”
People in the front of the crowd can be seen pointing at a person eventually escorted out.

Colorado State Fair officials: 'The performer stopped the show'
Colorado State Fair officials told USA TODAY the attack took place during the singer's set.
Officials have not released the man's name or said whether he was arrested.
“We can confirm that an incident took place at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman and the performer stopped the show," Olga Robak, director of communications with The Colorado Department of Agriculture said, adding Colorado State Fair security assisted with crowd control. "This incident is still under investigation and we cannot comment further.”
USA TODAY has reached out to McCreery's publicist.
Additional details about the incident were not immediately known.
From American Idol to award-winning country star
At age 17, McCreery won American Idol's 10th season.
McCreery married his longtime girlfriend Gabi Dugal, a pediatric cardiac nurse at Duke University Hospital, in 2018. The couple met in kindergarten in Garner, N.C.
“Five More Minutes” and “In Between” are the star's additional country chart-toppers, while “Same Truck” − his fifth studio album released last year − spawned the George Strait tribute tune, “Damn Strait,” The Tennessean, part of the USA TODAY Network reported.
The song, "It Matters To Her", was nominated for Digital First Performance of the Year at the 2024 CMT Music Awards. McCreery won the category.
